The Stranger: Beggining

As a read though the first pages of this book, I came up with many ideas and associations from the real life. In the beggining we see how Monsieur Meursault´s life is so vague and monotonous. He seems not to worry nothing about his dead mother that really, is everything that is left for him in the world. His concerns about his life are none, the only thing I figured out that he might worry about, is his job. Here I connected this event of the book with many people that are completely devoted to their work, nothing else matters for them. The fact that Monsieur Meursault is the narrator helps us see his feeling towards the most important event in this chapter, that is his mothers death. I feel that he does not really care about it, he just goes on with his life. For me this might be a great concern later on in the book, because this impediment of feelings might have serious causes in his life.

Try citing some support for these points. Is Mersault really dedicated to his work?
